Meet Desiree
Desiree Moore writes stories about imperfect people navigating resilience, identity, and the bonds that hold us together, even in the face of unimaginable challenges.
Her debut novel, Untitled for Now, introduced readers to Helen, a woman grappling with dissociative amnesia. Through Helen’s journey, Desiree explored her own experiences with trauma, addiction, teen pregnancy, and child loss. Although a work of fiction, this story is the most honest thing Desiree has ever done.
In Affirming Imogene, Desiree brings readers a heartfelt trans family drama, inspired by her experiences as a mother of a daughter in the LGBTQ+ community. Watching her child face discrimination and terrorization became the foundation for a story about fierce maternal love, the desire to shield, and the courage to let go.
Desiree hopes her work sparks conversations, cultivates empathy, and reminds readers of our shared humanity’s beauty.
