Authenticity vs. the Algorithm
Share
Have you ever wondered how much of yourself you should share online?
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Amber Wardell on her podcast, The Sensible Sessions. In Episode 16, Amber and I explored the tension between staying true to who you are and navigating the often overwhelming demands of social media algorithms. As someone who has shared deeply personal stories online—stories that are raw, vulnerable, and, yes, sometimes heartbreaking—I’ve had to ask myself this question time and time again: “Am I sharing because it’s real or because it’s what the algorithm wants?”
Amber and I didn’t hold back in our conversation. We covered:
- How I decide what to share about my journey as an author and mother.
- Why sharing authentic stories matters in a world dominated by perfectly curated feeds.
- How I approach my social media presence without losing myself in the process.
For me, writing and sharing my journey has always been about connection—connecting with readers who see themselves in my books, with parents who share my fears and hopes, and with anyone who has ever struggled to feel seen. But navigating social media sometimes feels like walking a tightrope. I loved the chance to unpack this struggle with Amber, someone who really gets it.
